Finance Assistant

We are looking for a Finance Assistant to carry out administrative and finance work and assist in the smooth running of the finance team.  The ideal candidate will have empathy with people experiencing homelessness and an understanding of and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.


Job description:

Arc has 16 properties and provides supported accommodation and outreach services to those experiencing homelessness in Somerset. 
The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of AAT Level 2 with experience of  working in a financial or office environment. 

Candidates will have good IT skills, with the ability to use office 365, the ability to work both within a team and independently and be able to work calmly under pressure.   

Some of your key responsibilities will be, but not limited to:

  • Assisting in the monitoring of client’s accounts and balances, dealing with Housing Benefit letters and queries. 

  • Carrying out finance administration tasks including but not restricted to; banking; inputting rents received; supplier invoice processing; reconciling credit card statements; inputting CORE forms and recording on relevant computer systems.  

  • The weekly preparation of the organisations banking along with the recording of all monies including that of donations and grants and security of monies in accordance with Policies.

  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of all legislation relating to Housing Benefit, other Welfare benefits and arrears control

  • The processing of weekly occupancy sheets and other related administration including Housing Benefit forms, changes of address and other paperwork relating to new clients.

  • Updating and maintaining the rent accounting database (Inform) with all relevant client information. 

Hours: 
FT 37.5 hours per week to be worked Monday – Friday. Flexible hours but within core working hours of 8am – 5:30pm.
