Volunteers' Week 2020
Meet Steve, an experienced volunteer
Steve had a 42 year career in local government and during part of that time was responsible for a homelessness team and was on the board of a home improvement agency and a housing association. When he retired in 2012 he was keen to put his skills and energy to good use and make a difference in society.
His first experience with Arc was taking part in The Big Sleep Out in 2017 following which he helped to develop a community garden at Lisieux Way, a project led by Arc to develop the skills of its clients. In more normal times he also collects soup made by students at Haygrove School in Bridgwater and delivers it to our Taunton hostel for our clients each Friday.
In 2018, Steve took on an additional voluntary role at Arc, to help us coordinate and support all of our other fantastic volunteers. Steve has been instrumental in establishing the role and showing how essential volunteers are.
Steve continues to be a supporter of Arc and is currently undertaking a charity cycle ride to raise funds for the organisation.
