Volunteer Appreciation & A Warm Welcome to Our New Coordinator!
From Monday 3rd to Sunday 9th June, we marked National Volunteers’ Week here at Arc. We celebrated the amazing contribution our volunteers make to the running of our organisation, by providing all the extra important services that help our clients in so many ways.
We have around 40 volunteers currently and are so grateful for the time they donate in support of the Somerset Homeless Community. From food collecting, to counselling, attending events, buddying up with clients and helping to organise donations, each of them are invaluable and we couldn’t continue to do what we do without their help and support.
This year our new Volunteer Coordinator Joan Evans organised a mouthwatering Friday afternoon tea party to thank our volunteers all for their hard work. Joan joined the team here at Arc back in May from her previous role at Spark Somerset. Joan has had a lot of previous experience working within the voluntary sector and has been out and about meeting everyone and making new connections.
We are also pleased to have been selected to be part of a countrywide volunteer campaign which is due to launch at the end of July called Volunteer in Somerset – Your Time, Your Way! Which is focusing on breaking down some of the barriers to volunteering and aiming to promote volunteering to a wider audience, and we will be sharing more about this exciting campaign in next month’s newsletter.
In the meantime, if you are interested in volunteering for Arc, we do have a small number of opportunities available. To find out more, please visit our website at www.arcinspire.co.uk/volunteering or contact Joan directly on [email protected]
