Recently, we had the privilege of working alongside a group of remarkable students from Weston College who took part in a community-focused initiative through The King’s Trust TEAM programme.
The King’s Trust supports young people aged 11 to 30, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, by helping them build confidence, develop essential life skills, gain qualifications, and prepare for work. Through their resources, training, and tailored programmes, they empower young people to live, learn, and earn, opening the door to new opportunities.
As part of the TEAM personal development programme, students from Weston College were tasked with designing and delivering a project that would positively impact their local community. Inspired to make a difference, they chose to support individuals facing homelessness in the Bridgwater area.
Through a series of fundraising activities, including a successful cake sale, the group raised enough money to purchase a range of items they believed would be useful to our clients. After conducting their own research, they decided to buy toiletries, snacks, hygiene products, tin openers, pillows, and other essentials that would make a real difference to the lives of those we support.
We were delighted when the students invited Richard Hole and Tracey Mansfield from our Bridgwater Outreach Team to receive the donated items and learn more about the incredible work the students had undertaken.
The project concluded with a Celebration Presentation event, a truly inspiring morning where the students delivered a confident and heartfelt one-hour presentation. Their passion, growth, and teamwork shone through as they shared their journey and the skills they had developed throughout the programme.
We are incredibly honoured to have been chosen as one of the charities supported by these young changemakers. It’s always inspiring to see young people take action in their communities, and we have no doubt they each have a bright future ahead.
From all of us at Arc, thank you, LeaH, Amy, Alex, Justyna, Jacob, Cameron, Toby, Ruby, Joshua and Samuel. It's the small things that make the biggest impact! 💙
