Honoring Dr. Horman: A Legacy of Compassion and Dedication

At Arc, we have always been fortunate to work alongside individuals whose passion and dedication truly transform lives. One such individual is Dr. Horman, a specialist GP in Health Inequalities, who has been an integral part of our mission for many years. Her tireless work has not only shaped the way we provide healthcare to our clients, but has also left a mark on the lives of countless individuals facing homelessness within the Somerset Community. 

Dr. Horman’s commitment to bringing healthcare directly to our clients has been unwavering. Recognizing the barriers many of our clients face in accessing traditional healthcare services, she played a pivotal role in designing and implementing solutions tailored to their needs. She was a vital part of setting up the Reach Centre, our Health & Wellbeing Hub, and our GP Surgery, both of which have become vital lifelines for the Somerset Homeless community.

From routine check-ups to addressing complex medical needs, Dr. Horman has provided compassionate and understanding care, ensuring that everyone—regardless of having a permanent address—could access the healthcare they need. This dedication has broken down one of the biggest barriers faced by those experiencing homelessness, and restored dignity & hope to those in vulnerable situations.

In recognition of her remarkable contributions, we held a Naming Ceremony & Afternoon Tea to mark her retirement, and are proud to announce that our GP Surgery has been named in Dr. Horman’s honor. This heartfelt gesture, made possible with the help of Dr. Timothy Norbury, who arranged the commemorative plaque, is a testament to her years of hard work and dedication. The plaque will serve as a permanent reminder of her enduring legacy and the profound impact she has had on the local homeless community.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank thank Dr Horman for her compassion, hardwork and  unwavering belief in the power of healthcare to change lives. She has been a trusted colleague, a source of inspiration, and a beacon of hope for those in need and will be deeply missed by both our team and our clients.
