Decorator/General Handyperson

We are looking for a Decorator/General Handyperson to help ensure a safe, clean, comfortable environment within our supported accommodation services for clients, staff, and visitors. 

Job description:

Arc have 16 properties and provide supported accommodation and outreach services to those experiencing homelessness in Somerset.
Some of your key responsibilities will be: 

• To carry out both cyclical and reactive decoration, to ensure all accommodation and communal areas are always to a high standard.   

• To occasionally undertake small repairs as required across Arc’s property stock.     

• To work closely with contractors including arranging appointments, contacting for emergencies and routine repairs, providing information on the status of properties, providing assistance as required. 

• To accurately calculate, without waste, the quantities of materials required, source and collect them from suppliers.   

• To carry out as necessary collections and deliveries, e.g. donated equipment or gift from members of the public or other organisations, and to help with other staff in moving/carrying furniture or white goods. 

• To occasionally assist with the disposal of any waste materials not suitable for collection by our normal waste carrier.   

• To occasionally assist with necessary collections and deliveries on behalf of the Association, including donations and Gifts in Kind from members of the public and external organisations.   

• Take responsibility for purchasing materials for reactive decoration and projects ensuring good value for money at all times

Hours: 

Core working hours Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week. Core Hours 8.00 – 4.00. Flexible hours beyond core 8.00am – 5.30pm.
