Housing Support Worker (Shift Rota)

Would you like to make a difference to the lives of those experiencing homelessness locally? We are looking for a Housing Support Worker to join our team and provide housing management, client support, care and supervision to clients living in our 24-hour supported hostel, Lindley House.


Job description:

Arc provide supported accommodation and outreach services to those experiencing homelessness in Somerset.

As a Housing Support Worker you will... 

  • Help provide quality housing management and support delivering the best services we can for those living in our accommodation who have been experiencing homelessness.
  • Help all those we engage with (clients, potential clients and those who move on from our accommodation), to achieve ‘success’. Helping them to address a wide range of possible needs, enabling them to achieve positive life change, improve their health and well-being, feel more skilled, confident & equipped to contribute to wider society.

Hours:  
This is a permanent full-time role working on a 4 day on 2 day off Shift Rota system. This includes early and late shifts, but no night shifts. As example of what the hours would be: 
Day 1: 14:00 – 22:00, Day 2: 12:30 – 20:30, Day 3: 7:30 – 15:30, Day 4: 6:30 – 14:30. Followed by 2 days off.

We are looking for:  

  • Candidates with experience of working with people with multiple disadvantage or have worked with people who are or have been homeless and have an understanding of the issues surrounding people with complex needs, such as substance misuse or mental health issues. 
  • You will be empathetic and passionate about doing something to support often vulnerable people, and with a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. Able to motivate an enthuse others, you will be capable of working on your own initiative or in teams, remain calm under pressure and be good at handling situations of conflict. 
  • With good verbal and written communications skills and a knowledge of the welfare benefits system, you will be keen to develop, learn and share your skills and knowledge.

£24,754 + unsocial hours shift allowance of £600
