Welcoming our new CEO!
Arc's new CEO, Raj Singh, has been busy settling into his new role. We hope that you will join us in giving him a warm welcome!
"It gives me great pleasure to be writing to you as the new CEO of Arc. I began my career as a law student volunteering at a local Citizens Advice Bureau. I started off as a Housing and Debt specialist representing clients in court that were about to be made homeless. From this point onwards I never looked back and worked in various roles in different charities.
Following a move to Somerset a few years ago I started to work with communities around health and social care which we know is challenging due to the rural nature of our county. During the pandemic I led a community response dealing with issues such as food scarcity/poverty, access to medication and care navigation all in very challenging circumstances. This involved running a warehouse of essential supplies and getting this into communities across Somerset. In short I am passionate about people and communities.
I have been here for nearly one month now and have received a warm welcome from our great team and supporters. I have been struck by the resilience and dedication of our staff and volunteers who tirelessly to improve the lives of our clients. One of my first jobs was to attend the opening of our new Reach Centre in Taunton which will act as a hub for organisations to work together to improve outcomes for the individuals we work with.
The pandemic has been a difficult time for our clients, we have an opportunity to look at how we can do even more to support them as we emerge from the pandemic. One example of this is our new food offer at Lindley House which has been received very well and a source of positivity. We will continue to work on nutrition alongside improving other health outcomes in the coming year.
Finally I wanted to say that supporters are the life blood of our organisation and we couldn’t continue our important work without you. Thank you."
